Using your external voice to override you internal voice

Seems like Tony Robbins “I Am Not Your Guru” is all the rage lately, rightfully so. I’ve been a Robbins fan for several years when I first bumped into his work during the beginning of a rough patch in my life. Yes, he has his skeptics, but I’d argue in support of his methods.

I think Tony’s strongest lesson is this concept of incantations. For those unfamiliar, it’s the belief that by verbally repeating a conviction, out loud, it becomes you. When said with enough authority and authenticity the body and mind start actually to believe it. I’ve been wrestling with my version of an incantation. I say it in the shower, when alone in the car, when running… all the places where people won’t think I’m crazy. Is it working? After just two weeks it’s hard to tell for certain, but I am feeling a certain level of focus and drive.

More later.
